HTML/CSS/JS basics
HTML/CSS/JS basics
What is the skill level expected?
This course is for people who have never programmed for a website before.
Who is this course for?
If you own a business or you need a little bit of knowledge to make the changes to an existing website, then this course is for you. We will go through how to build a website starting from scratch!
In this course, we are going to build three home pages:
The tech company "Apple".
The soft drink company "Coca Cola".
A random website that no one has heard of... But it has a great layout.
You should be able to build any website template you want by the end of this course.
What is HTML?
HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is the most basic building block of the Web. It defines the meaning and structure of web content. Other technologies besides HTML are generally used to describe a web page's appearance/presentation (CSS) or functionality/behavior (JavaScript).
What is CSS?
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a style sheet language used for describing the presentation of a document written in a markup language such as HTML.
CSS is designed to enable the separation of presentation and content, including layout, colors, and fonts.[3] This separation can improve content accessibility; provide more flexibility and control in the specification of presentation characteristics; enable multiple web pages to share formatting by specifying the relevant CSS in a separate .css file, which reduces complexity and repetition in the structural content; and enable the .css file to be cached to improve the page load speed between the pages that share the file and its formatting.
What is JS (JavaScript)?
JavaScript is a scripting or programming language that allows you to implement complex features on web pages — every time a web page does more than just sit there and display static information for you to look at — displaying timely content updates, interactive maps, animated 2D/3D graphics, scrolling video jukeboxes, etc. — you can bet that JavaScript is probably involved. It is the third layer of the layer cake of standard web technologies, two of which (HTML and CSS) we have covered in much more detail in other parts of the Learning Area.
