Computational Fluid Dynamics

Computational Fluid Dynamics

Computational Fluid Dynamics is a tool used in Computer-Aided Engineering for solving complex flow problems. These problems, usually, are hard to solve using conventional engineering methods or are too expensive to solve using experimental techniques. Thus CFD helps in solving fluid flow problems using numerical techniques and with the use of efficient computers. This course can be taken by engineers, mathematicians, and scientists who want to explore and use CFD as a tool for solving complex fluid problems. A usual laptop with 8 Gb RAM and 500 Gb HD with core i5 4-8th gen processor is enough for learning this course. The initial lectures are for preview as well. Lectures 1 and 2 are available for previewing. These two lectures gives an idea of what CFD is and how can it be used for solving complex fluid dynamics problems. Later, the depth has been explored from the lecture 3 to onwards which mainly covers topics like turbulence, discretization and grid generation. There are two lectures on turbulence. Turbulence modeling using Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) method and DES and LES are deeply discussed. In the discretization, different methods like Finite Difference Method, Finite Volume method are discussed. Last but not the least is High Performance Computing (HPC) which is kind of a backbone of CFD. This has been deeply discussed in a separate lecture. The technology, its different component, how we can use it in establishing a cluster for CFD? and aspects like that are thoroughly discussed.
