Clinical Bacteriology

Clinical Bacteriology

The introduction to Clinical Bacteriology (medical microbiology). It is a course for those interested in clinical microbiology and to understand the progression of diseases and illness. This course introduces students to the microbial species particularly bacteria that cause human disease. This course is comprised on 17 lectures and divided into two sections. First section includes introduction to medical microbiology, medical terminologies, mechanism of drug resistance phenomena, virulence factors, bacterial toxins, and the second section comprised on the characteristics (morphology, cultural, biochemical traits, pathogenesis, pathology, epidemiology, risk factors, diagnostic procedures, prevention, and treatment) of clinically important bacterial pathogens such as Escherichia coli, Streptococcus spp, Helicobacter pylori, Clostridium spp, Neisseria, Salmonella, Mycoplasma, Vibrio cholerae, Campylobacter spp, Legionella pneumophila, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Chlamydia.

The total time length of this course is 3 hours and the first section should follow step by step to develop the fundamental understanding of clinical microbiology. While from the second section, you can choose to pick any bacterial pathogens of your interest to learn first. This course is designed in a manner to develop the understanding of this field from one concept to another and appropriate for beginners, intermediate students, and laboratory technologists. The goal is to make this course interesting, and easy to understand and to share all my knowledge related to clinical bacteriology.
