Inductance Properties

Inductance Properties

This Course Explains the principle of Inductance and Inductive Reactance. The Circuit Examples  will show how Current and Voltage are affected in a Pure Inductive Circuit and How these properties change as Resistance is added to the the mix,in addition to this frequency of the Ac source voltage will be discussed and will show how the phase angle between the Voltage and current will be affected.

What is Inductance ?

Inductance is the tendency of an electrical conductor to oppose a change in the electric current flowing through it. The flow of electric current creates a magnetic field around the conductor. The field strength depends on the magnitude of the current, and follows any changes in current.

What  is Inductive Reactance (XL) ?

Inductive reactance or simply reactance is not anything but the resistance of an inductive circuit. An inductor competes against the current in a coil which alters the direction and instantaneous magnitude. This opposition is comparable to resistance but always possesses a phase shift between voltage and current and dissipate zero. The abbreviation of Inductive reactance is XL, frequency of the signal will effect the value of XL.

Simply Put Inductive Reactance is Simply the Resistance of an Inductive circuit !
