Chemistry- Taking the mystery out of stoichiometry
Chemistry- Taking the mystery out of stoichiometry
Does stoichiometry feel like an insurmountable obstacle? Are you unsure when you need to use stoichiometry, much less how to do stoichiometry problems? This course is for you! We start with learning to recognize a stoichiometry question. When you have a problem to solve, the first step is to know which tool to use. Then, we work on finding appropriate mole ratios for various questions. Next, we tackle simple stoichiometry using moles only. Once we are comfortable using moles, we move on to starting and finishing problems in grams. We will predict how much product is formed as well as how much reactant is needed. After mastering simple stoichiometry, we will move onto limiting reactants. Just like before we start with learning to recognize the difference between a simple stoichiometry question and a limiting reactant questions. Then, we will learn how to identify the limiting reactant. Once those skills are mastered, we will use that information to predict products and how much excess reactant remains when a reaction is complete. Finally, we will learn to calculate the percent yield of the reaction. Each section is accompanied by examples and problems for you to work on your own. A short quiz follows each section to help maximize learning and retention. You can do stoichiometry!
