What You Will Learn:

In this short course I will take you through the 6 things you need to notice when you are analysing poetry. We will go through what they are, how to notice them and how they impact the meaning of a poem. This course is now structured in 3 parts:

-- Part 2: Analysis of "Ozymandias" --

• How to identify language features

• Noticing structure and form

• Identify rhyme

• How analyse how these technical features influence and shape meaning

-- Part 3: How to Structure a Poetry Analysis Essay --

• How to organise all the information your've analysed

• What to include in the introduction, body paragraphs, conclusion

• How to use evidence effectively

• How to quote poetry correctly

• Examples and critiques of scholar's paragraphs

Since creating this course I have also added more tutorials to expand on the information originally published. I take you through in real time, how to apply the knowledge you have learned to a famous poem and then how you can start to develop your own interpretation of the poem.

The skills taught in this course can be applied to any poem both seen and unseen.
