Beginners Guide to Yoga

Have you ever wanted to try yoga or learn more about yoga philosophy and its different styles? This course will give you an overview of what to expect from yoga, some yoga philosophies, some common breathing techniques, as well as a few different styles of yoga to get you started.

We will start with an introduction, common barriers, benefits of different yoga practices, and an overview of yogic philosophy (the 8 limbs of yoga, yamas and niyamas). Then we'll start gradually learning what a vinyasa is and isn't, which leads to various breathing techniques. After the foundation is covered, we'll dive a little deeper into some different styles of yoga, like gentle yoga, core strength vinyasa (which is probably not what you think it is), and yin yoga.

This is not all-encompassing, but designed to give you a foundation on which to build upon and to hopefully pique your curiosity to explore some other types of yoga and perhaps dig even deeper into them. There is a yoga style for every body and a niche of yoga for almost everything. There are so many different branches of the yoga tree and different routes you can take. The possibilities are endless.
