Paint a Lively Sea Turtle in Watercolor:

I will show you how I use watercolors for the illustration of a sea turtle. I will also show how to trace the animal easily without sketching. You will learn about application of watercolors, control of water and different ways of using salt in your art.

This class will be easy to follow as in real time painting with tips. After this class you will learn how to use watercolors effectively for lively animal illustrations and how to apply the textures on animals with salt and simple tools. You will be confident to paint your desired animal in your own style.

Materials that I will be using in this class:

• watercolor paints

• around no.1 and no.4 size brushes (one small and on medium size)

• watercolor paper (best to have at least 200 gsm)

• pencil and eraser

• 2 cups of water

• paper towel or cotton cloth

• transparent/copy paper or printing/office paper to trace the reference image

• salt

• reference image

Steps that I will be following in this class:

• I will show my materials that I use in this class

• I will demonstrate simple watercolor techniques that I will be using in the process of painting the sea turtle

• I will show how I trace the sea turtle with just pencil and office paper

• I will share my process of painting the head of the turtle with tips and tricks

• I will continue with its skin and then legs by leaving white spaces to imitate its unique pattern

• I will apply the first layer with wet on wet on the turtle’s shell and using salt to give texture and highlights

• I will show how to edit your final piece and fix small mistakes on the animal
