Surviving the Next Snowpocalypse

In early 2021, Texas experienced the worst winter storm in recent history, leaving millions without power and water. We're going to look at some basic measures you can take and some basic purchases you can make to provide a basic level of comfort and survival when the next disaster comes around.

We'll begin with the fundamentals of survival - the survival hierarchy and basic shelter. From there, we'll talk about different survival strategies in both hot and cold weather, and I'll tell you how you can freeze to death in July in Texas. With that done, we'll move to survival in comfort - making some additional simple preparations and purchases that will take us from merely surviving to begin able to ride out the storm in relative comfort and keep our family safe.

Finally, we’ll close out with a broader discussion of how you can create a home and a lifestyle that is more disaster-resistant, and less reliant on society’s plan A for you and your family. We’ll talk about solar power and about designing a house from the very beginning to need less power – less power needed is less power you’ll have to replace when the power goes out.

Together, we’ll think about what we wished we thought about before the problem, and create a solid plan for surviving the next disaster.
