Peace Chess: Fundaments of Paco Ŝako
Peace Chess: Fundaments of Paco Ŝako
Welcome to Paco Ŝako's first online course. In this Level 1 class comprising almost entirely video tutorials, we walk through the basic moves and the philosophical thoughts in the award-winning game of peace chess. How do these unique pieces of art move? What do they represent? In Paco Ŝako the pieces do not get 'captured' nor removed from board - they embrace and form unions; mindfulness can be cultivated through action and words that would be seen and heard in a game.
In this course, you will hear from the inventor of the game, Felix Albers of the Netherlands, and other voices from the international community about what Paco Ŝako means.
What does Paco Ŝako mean to you?
At the end of the course, you will reflect on this journey in understanding the game in response to an assignment about the philosophy of the game. Beyond the course, you may also send us your further thoughts about the game, and either Boon-Yong or Felix shall reply. We cherish your sentiments.
(The course content, including its videos and assignment, are in English, though we certainly hope that one day we would have them in Esperanto too as much as we hope for peace!)
Embrace the next movement in chess. Play for peace.
