Learner-centered learning has been gaining consideration in the past few years, shifting the focus from the teacher to the learners. Learner -centered instruction helps students cultivate a “can do” attitude and allows for autonomous and active learning.While it is necessary to be aware of the technology affordances, it is more important to focus on the pedagogy of how to use the features of online teaching effectively to foster student engagement and learning.
This course has been designed to foster engagements of learner on online teaching by designing LeDs, Learning by Doing activities. Moreover, how discussion threads on discussion forum , assimilation quiz and reflective quiz make online teaching learner centered is also shared in this course.
The course will have videos on Learning Dialogue (LeD Videos) by Instructor that will familiarize the learners with dividing content in chunks and creating reflection spots. Few videos will have Reflection Spots, where learners are supposed to pause the video and then think, reflect and think/ write on peardeck interactive slide as to how the discussed content will be applicable in their own context. Learners will be acquainted with creating Learning by Doing (LbD) activities that are small activities aimed at providing practice in the content discussed within the LeD video shows creating LbD on the Canva Platform. The course will also provide the information about creating various discussion threads on Discussion Forums for Learning experience Interactions that are driven by focus questions. By creating focus question, instructor expects that all participants will take part in the discussion forum to advance their learning by discussing the course content, and sharing their own experiences with others. How Learning Extension Trajectories is useful for advancing the learning is also shared in this course.
