Raagas with me Yaman raag

In this course you will learn to sing Raag Yaman. It is one of the main and popular Raagas of Indian Classical Music. You will be guided step by step through the basics to advanced singing and understaning of the Raaga. Included in the course is Swarmalika, Teentaal Bandish, Tarana, Drut Khayal along with Alaaps and taans for performing this Raaga.

Each lesson is designed so that the student can sing along and follow what is being taught. This is done to replicate the situation of the student learning with a Guru or teacher. Hence the title Ragas with me. The course follows a gradual method of increasing difficulty and the students are advised to spend at least a couple of revisits to the lessons completed. The ideal situation would be to give a few weeks to each section of the course.

To further the interest of the students there is an extra bonus content. Here, more intricate taans have been added. The bonus taans are also designed so that the student can follow along .

Links to good examples of Raag Yaman being sung by great masters of yore and modern day exponents are also given. Listening is primarily focused on apart from self study and practice.

Some key elements like repetition and experimentation are given emphasis so as to develop the student's abilities to truly capture the essence of Khayal singing.
