D&D 5e: Creating Your Own Monsters
D&D 5e: Creating Your Own Monsters
Have you ever heard about the "Troll Effect"? The Troll is a very interesting enemy which has a unique regeneration mechanic. It regains hit points every turn, making it a really challenging creature to defeat. The problem is: almost every D&D player nowadays knows how to counter that mechanic, making it less interesting than it used to be in the past.
Some players have memorized the entire Monster Manual; they know what every monster does and how to effectively fight them. This is unfortunately taking away the DM's options, so they have no monsters to surprise their players with new and interesting traits, attacks and mechanics. A creative DM now has to come up with original homebrewed monsters to design their encounters and amaze their players with creatures that they have never seen before.
This course will help understand how a monster has to be properly designed according to the rules, allowing you to design those unique monsters, that you and only you will have available at your table. Your players will have once more the feeling that they had when they found a Troll for the first time, trying to figure out how to counter their mechanic.
Now everyone roll initiative.
