Chances are, someone you know has dyslexia, and you are seeking ways to help bright students who happen to struggle with literacy. In this course, we will explore questions surrounding dyslexia and other language-based learning differences, and learn how to incorporate tangible teaching ideas into our curriculum, to reach all learners. Course participants will be able to answer, "What is dyslexia?" and understand how the brain is transformed with the science of reading. Participants will learn to pinpoint the early signs of difficulty, and concrete ways to inspire their teaching practices with systematic phonics instruction and morphology, by examining and creating lesson ideas together. Links to many resources will be provided, which may be utilized to immediately inform and inspire your teaching. Assignments will include reflective journaling when posed with guiding questions, and the creation of word games to play with struggling readers, to help reinforce concepts. Each section of the course has videos to guide your exploration of this vital topic, as well as downloadable documents and hyperlinks to helpful information.
