The Remodel: Just Three Daily Things

Wouldn’t it be great to be living in a pandemic of kindness … or better yet, a pandemic of happiness … right now, most of us are just hoping we can get back to normal. However, even as the COVID pandemic wanes, many of us find ourselves tired and out of sync … we’re finding it hard to see a path back to normal in the face (not the wake) of ongoing political and social strife. Before the pandemic it was already difficult for many of us … now return normality much less happiness kind of seems out of reach.

My mom is a huge fan of the Wizard of Oz … we watched it together a number of times and it will forever occupy a special place in my heart. For those of you unfamiliar with the story, a young girl is teleported to a strange land … she wants to go home … but to go home she must embark on a journey fraught with dangers like a witch, apple throwing trees, and flying monkeys (which sounds a lot like today’s world). To help on her journey she is gifted a pair of Ruby slippers. The interesting thing is that she goes on this adventure with the sole purpose to make it home only to find out that by clicking the Ruby slippers together three times … she could go home … meaning the power to get what she wanted was with her all along.

Wouldn’t it be nice right about now if life came with some Ruby slippers for happiness … Ruby slippers we could click together and return to something better?

Just like Dorothy … we do have something like that. The answer isn’t clicking our heels together three times … but it is Just Three Daily Things.
