How to design hybrid work for better productivity?
In these times of intense competition for talent, failing to offer flexible work arrangements is a risk for organizations. People intend to quit their jobs if organisations do not offer them flexible options at work. This is because today’s talent value flexibility at work, even more than pay rise. For instance, research from IWG shows that 72% of office workers would prefer a hybrid way of working to a full-time return to the office – even if reverting to the old Monday-Friday routine meant earning more money. Recent research has particularly pointed out that people want the best of both worlds. This was highlighted in Microsoft 2021 Work Trend Index, in which it was reported that over 70% of workers want flexible remote work options to continue, while over 65% are craving more in-person time with their teams. It is going to be the era of hybrid work. To prepare, organisational leaders need to consider redesigning physical spaces and time to better accommodate hybrid work environments.
In this course, I’ll explore how can organisations can go about designing physical space and time to realise the enormous potential hybrid work brings. Based on published research, I’ll offer insights and practical recommendations on how to be imaginative about office, home and time to make hybrid work a productive work arrangement.
