In various examination such as UPSC Enforcement Officer, UPSC Labour Officer, UPSC Assistant Labour Commissioner, UPSC APFC and UGC NET, Syllabus includes Labour and Industrial Laws where questions from various labour acts has been asked previously.
With the publication of FOUR new Labour Codes after amalgamation of 29 previous labour acts , there is confusion among students on whether to study the past laws or the new acts.
In this course, I have posted the question paper of various examination conducted previously related to labour laws. I have also included the explanation and comparison with the new labour codes.
Few questions has been given below for reference:
Question: Under the provisions of the Trade Union Act 1926, what is the maximum time period for which the members of the executive and other office bearers of a trade union shall be elected? (UPSC ALC 2015)
Option 1: One year
Option 2: Two years
Option 3: Three years
Option 4: Four years
Explanation: Under the provisions of the Trade Union Act 1926, what is the maximum time period for which the members of the executive and other office bearers of a trade union shall be elected for Three years.
Note: Section 7 in the Industrial Relations Code,2020 has the same provision.
Question: What is the share of women representatives in the Advisory Committee to be constituted under the Equal Remuneration Act, 1976? (UPSC Labour Enforcement Officer 2017)
Option 1: One half of the total members
Option 2: One third of the total members
Option 3: One fourth of the total members
Option 4: Three fourth of the total members
Explanation: According to the Equal Remuneration Act 1976, Every Advisory Committee shall consist of not less than ten persons, to be nominated by the appropriate Government, of which one-half shall be women.
Note: Section 42 of Code on Wages, 2019 provides for Central Advisory Board and State Advisory Board who may constitute advisory committees. One-third of the members shall be women in the advisory committee.
