15-Hand Warm-Up Quiz With Explanations

15-Hand Warm-Up Quiz With Explanations

This is a good one-hour warm-up. You can watch it before your session just to remind yourself a few basic concepts.

If you want to succeed in poker you should work constantly on improving your game. Most of the players just autopilot and they play the same in a $10 dollar buyin and in a $109 dollar buyin tournament. You should learn differentiating the players and tournaments.

On Sundays a lot of people are gambling so you should focus on the read, on the players, and ask yourself the right questions.

Let’s imagine you have raised with AQ and got an all-in from the big blind with a stack of 19 BB. You should ask yourself a question: from what I know about this player, from the notes I have on him, can he 3-bet all-in with AJ or AT? If your answer is yes then you call and if you have notes that this player mucks his AJ and moves all-in only with JJ+ and AK then you can easily fold.

Such questions is the basics and you shouldn’t forget about these simple tactics the poker professionals use every time.

You shouldn’t expect to become the best player after watching a few courses. It takes time and often, if you are not a genius, it takes a lot of time.

If you want to become a good player who still loses but wins more often then you should study a lot of courses and listen to a lot of podcasts with different points of view to choose what is good for you and what you agree with.

Don’t stop questioning all the poker coaches and yourself. Look for the evidence, like for example the statistics of 4 million hands which shows that the field check-raises on the Flop 10% of the time and it’s 9 times out of 10 two pair or better. These are just the facts so you should know such useful facts and when someone check-raises you on the Flop you should remember that 9 times out of 10 times your top pair is not good!
