4 Steps to Good Diction

4 Steps to Good Diction

English is spoken almost everywhere today. More Asians are speaking English than ever before. Here in Singapore, it is the lingua franca. Many people want to speak with good diction, if only they know how. Then, they can speak with confidence at work or in school. They can read well to their young children. They can take pride in the way they speak. This course is useful as a source of reference and a learning aid for good diction. Through this course, learners can master the four steps to good diction.

In Step 1 the Pronunciation, learners are introduced to phonetic symbols. They get to practise reading phonetic symbols, only 44 of them: 24 consonants and 20 vowels. In Step 2 the Stress, learners learn how to stress words. In Step 3 the Link, learners learn the three ways to link words: consonant to vowel, consonant to consonant, and vowel to vowel. In Step 4 the Rhythm, learners combine the first three steps and go on to master the art of eloquent speech by emphasising key words in a sentence and using the pause effectively.

It takes about 90 minutes to complete the entire course in one sitting. The course is divided into four sections, based on the four steps of good diction. Each section has a different number of lectures ranging from two to three. Each section comes with a summary for learners to refresh their recently acquired knowledge.

Finally, no matter where you are from, no matter what your accent is, you will need these four steps for good diction. Don't miss this course. It will transform forever the way you speak English.
